If you would like to continue the discussion regarding uniforms etc... please do it in this forum. Right now my guess is we have about 30 of these topics started and they are cluttering up the BBQ.

For the sake of the BBQ, please post here.

Thank you.
Mike

okay, and here's my jerseys and alternate logos. I think I actually like the "inagural year" patch better than the logo now...

sorry, Maury, about the bandwith, but this took a long time, so i really wanted to post it.

Is that one color a gold color or is it tan?

Again, I think just a "P" on the cap is all that's necessary - I wouldn't want Baltimore to have "BO" on its caps! Of course, the Twins used to have the "TC" on its caps for "Twin Cities". (Trivia time again: What color was each letter of the "TC" on the Twins' caps?)

the "T" was red, and the "C" is white, I believe. Baltimore doesn't have any letters on its cap, I don't think.

Colors...its supposed to be a khaki or tan, not gold. I really like the tan jersey, tan hat safari uniforms. And, for what its worth, I generally prefer just one letter on the hats as well. But once I put it together, I really liked the look of the joined letters. Actually I was kinda inspired by the TC hats. I especially like the white letters (with the woodcolored highlights) on both the green and gray hats.

Schilly post the logo, that's fine, but we have put a 40 KB limit on file size so you might have to make it smaller to accomodate the file restriction.

This is not meant to squelch the subject, just get it all in one spot.

This is (hopefully) an adaptation of Schillys logo design he sent me. I just added the orange stripes, and changed the sleeves to greyish.

This space reserved for MLB.

my Cedars logo looks like its locked away on another thread, so I'll repost it here. Let me know what you think. I'm still not sure about it myself--looks too much like a chainsaw, methinks.

Schilly,
I love the colors you've got there. The gold is really tasteful and unique color. It would be so nice to have unique colors without being too trendy or corny.

I still like this "P" the best made by PortlandGreenSox. It can go with any of the names. Also, I like the colors Dark Forrest Green (for all the trees here in Oregon), Deep Blue (ala Crater Lake and all the other wonderful blue lakes here) and maybe a shimery sand color for the beaches or a silver for the clouds?

I like that "P" Shilly, that's really cool. Could you add an eye also so it looks more like a heron?

I don't know if this idea has been tossed out there yet for a team name, but in case it hasn't:

What about the Portland Chinook? What better to symbolize the Pacific Northwest than a chinook salmon. It's a unique and tough looking fish and it swims upstream (think of all the great metaphors). Plus, it would pay homage to the Chinook Indians who lived all along the Columbia River, including what is now Portland. Just recently, remnants of a Chinook village were unearthed in North Portland during construction of the Interstate Max Line. The new ballpark could include a display with information on tribe – perhaps even some artifacts if the tribe agreed to it. I know there has been some debate as to whether sports teams should be named after Native American groups, so I'd like to clarify my position:

1. I've never been a big fan of the Indian team names – especially the Reds and the Redskins. These are derogatory monikers for Native Americans as a collective group. The Braves and Indians are only slightly better. However, they still promote stereotypes about Native Americans. The Tomahawk chop and chant is awful and the Indians logo is outdated and offensive (can you imagine a team with a Sambo logo?). Seems like the Blackhawks is more tolerable as it's named after a specific tribe. I don't know if the team does anything to positively promote the Blackhawk culture or not . . .
2. I propose that the Portland team name and logo be closely associated with the salmon, not the Native American tribe. However, as they share a common name, it would make sense to include information about the tribe in the stadium. I think this could be done respectfully and seen as a celebration of the Chinook tribe, not as an insult.

How about this one....

Big Grin Smile Scream jawsdown Razz

I saw a shirt at the mall of this team one time and couldn't stop laughing...Apparently some Indian and white kids at NCU started an intramural team and in spoofing the Indian names and logos they developed this moniker....

Too funny...Love the WASP Suburbanite dude on the logo....Makes me think of mayonaise, vanillia, and other bland foods....

Other funny thing...Their apparel sells more than the NCU real teams....And it all goes to good causes...Ceaser Chavez Latino Scholarship Fund, Native American Scholarsip Fund, etc...
