Item: UW wants a couple of hundred million from the state and/or county to make admittedly decrepit Husky Stadium into a (the?) premier Pac10 venue...my .02--even in a decent economy, this would be a tough sell, and a bit shady...UW owns kajillions of dollars worth of real estate in downtown Seattle, which they no doubt want to be kept a little secret--but, if UW wants their money in stadium renovations, they should just cash in on some of that there pricey real estate....they should do that or move to the Seahawks Stadium, which, while lying a few miles south of campus, is certainly a world class, state of the art football stadium--the Seahawks and UW have a good relationship, and Paul Allen would be fine w/a Pac10 tenant in his stadium...it's not like UW would be the only Pac10 team to play a bit off campus (UCLA/Rose Bowl, etc.)...I'm biased, being a licensed UW hater, but it seems borderline criminal to ask the state/county for funds to refurbish your football stadium when there is a) this troubled economy b) you're sitting on the aforementioned real estate gold mine in downtown Seattle, which, when cashed in, I'm sure could easily pay for the remodeling...

It's no crime to ask.

Furthermore, they'll probably get somewhere with asking. Too many heavy hitters in the Tyee Club influence anything and everything in the state. I can see where this is going.

It will sow the seeds of discontent in the state and the Fusky population. MWHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I don't see it (earmarking $200ish million for the stadium remodel) happenin'--too many articles projecting naysaying, etc. from Olympia...I still think it is not right for UW to ask for public $ when Qwest is available, etc.
