OK, I really am trying to stay away and get caught up with everything... but I stumbled on this and I simply had to post it in here:

2007 America's Favorite Cities

This was a survey taken by Travel and Leisure magazine. 60,000 people surveyed. #1 overall? You guessed it, Portland. And guess where we were rated the most poorly? You guessed it, "Sports Fan's Vacation" (rated #23 out of 25, ahead of only Charleston and Santa Fe who have no big 4 franchises).

focus on the positive

Ranked # 1 for:

Overall Characteristics
Access to Outdoors
Environmental Awareness
Ease of getting around (transportation)
Cityscape
Pedestrian Friendly

Ranked # 2 for:

CLeanliness
Coffee

Ranked # 3/4/5 for:

Most athletic populous
Action Adventure
Farmers Market
Gay friendliness
Most Relaxing
Underground arts

Yes, or sports scene sucks, but you know what? Our city rules. We are so incredibly fortunate to live in a progressive, vibrant city.

Ohh....and by the way, we were just ranked the # 2 city in the world for cycling (behind Copenhagen) by Virgin Travel

Look, Portland is not a sleepy little town anymore. Poeple know and appreciate this kick-butt place for what it is. Sports will come. As surely as the people do.

I am probably in the minority here, but the rankings above are more important to me than MLB or NFL.

...and Forbes Magazine just named us co #1 for Greenest States.

Oregon and Veromont are tied.

Way cool!

I'm greedy. I want the rankings above AND more pro sports (major league variety)! No either/or, just both/and.
