If MLS arrives, I will get season tickets, not so much because I like soccer, (which I really don't.) But because the City of Roses deserves another major league sport.

I also thought that MLS was pushing back the decision on the other franchise. Is there any additional info on when this announcement will be?

Well I just read an article from the Portand Trib that basically says that Merrit and the MLS commish is going to be at the marriot tomorrow. Leonard basically blabbed it. This is great news for Portland. I am looking forward tot he changes at the Rose Quarter.. Get on it ASAP!

I will buy Season Tickets. There is no doubt that PDX will raise the bar for MLS. The city already has the best, organic/non manufactured fan base in Timbers Army.

Props to them for working their tails off.

It's official!

Now onto closing a funding gap. I started by buying another season ticket for THIS year. It will be a better team... but given MLS playing with rosters a bit, every USL team might be a bit better.

Paul: do you know how I can get my grubby mitts on one of those PDX MLS 2011 t-shirts I saw on the news or maybe even one of the ubercool PDX MLS 2011 jersies handed out to Mssrs. Finnegan/Adams/Leonard?....that would be great if you could pass on a way to buy one...r.e. the funding gap--maybe the $5 million discount MLS gave Paulson can plug 33% of the hole? Y'think?...I knew (as Garber said, it was the best kept secret in N. American sports of late) we'd be nabbing an MLS team, but today's announcement almost brought tears to my eyes (especially when Paulson emphasized PDX FINALLY had another major league team [no, the WNBA didn't count]), and definitely my share of goosebumps--I am old enough to remember cheering for the Timbers in old Civic Stadium circa 1977, and even listening to them on the radio (KOIN 970?) when I was knee high to a shrubbery...truly a great day for PDX soccer fans, as well as PDX sports fans in general....good grief, Merritt Freaking Paulson--what an awesome guy.
