heres a cool link i found on ballparks by munsley and supplys. its a portland park at the PPS site http://www.sfo.com/~csuppes/MLB/portland/porbpk.htm
its basically the same ballpark as on this site by steve foster but there are a few differences which would make the ballpark better that what is currently on this site. one difference is Flowerbeds - along the top of the outfield wall spanning nearly the full distance between the foul poles - will be planted with Portland's signature plants such as roses, ferns and other evergreen vegetation. if you click on the baseball park diagram on the bottom and blow it up you can see them in the model. Also it looks like they stick out down by the foul poles giving it a unique home run porch. also this article says Fans in many sections of the ballpark will have great views of Portland's beautiful urban and natural environment. Many seated in the upper deck behind home plate and down the third base side will have views of Mt. Hood (Oregon's tallest peak at 11,239-feet) looming beyond the city to the east. Some fans in the right field corner of the upper deck may have views of Mt. Adams and Mt. St. Helens in southwest Washington north of the city. so my questions are how come this site removed the rose beds along the outfield wall on the Interactive Stadium Vingette and the blow up diagram on here? and would it be possible to see any moutains or not from the PPS site? I was under the impression that you couldn't but i hope i'm wrong. |

Tim Marttala is "Pokey" on the boards, he had Maury's job previously.
I remeber talking with him about the design, and the 2 dimentions down the lines was becasue thyere are the same dimentions as the old Vaughn Sreet park, and then also for Civic Stadium (pre renovation). I'm not sure if I remember this correctly, and can't check becasue this was on the old style of boards (like OregonLive), which are not archived... I really like the fact that low down on the exterior it will blend in with the surroundings, but above that level it hs a signature of the "waves" that would likely be made out of glass. --Tim Chamberlin-- --OSC Volunteer Coordinator-- |

quote: you remembered correctly. on my link i posted it says that "Left and right field corner dimensions reflect Portland's old Vaughn Street Ballpark (home of the AAA PCL Portland Beavers from 1903-1955) and Civic Stadium (home to Portland baseball since 1956) Â a way to keep Portland ballpark history alive" I really hope they go with this idea. |

Heh, I guess it would help if I read the entire link.
I don't know if I like the idea of the rses planted rightinfront of the fans along the wall, but in areas where there are no seats right behind the wall I think it's cool. I have a larger copy of almost of those images if you'd like me to send them to you... --Tim Chamberlin-- --OSC Volunteer Coordinator-- |

quote: hey thanks. i'd really like to see them. do you need an e-mail address or can you somehow post them on here? my e-mail address is sender69@hotmail.com I'd have to see what the roses look like in front of the fans. Maybe they could have the wall and top of the wall lower than the fans eye levels so they don't block/interfere with views. But as long as they don't block too much view i'd like to see them go all the way around. i'd also like to see a way to have something green covering some or the entire outfield wall other than ivy. In the link i posted it talked about ferns and other green vegitation. I'm sure they meant that the ferns would be behind the wall somewhere or on top but something green on the wall would be a nice Portland look. Originally i wanted ivy on the wall but i want the park to have its own identity so i'd stay away from ivy. But there must be something green that could take a beating like wrigleys ivy can and also not interfer too much with play. |

I'm not sure if all of you have seen these before, but I just found these pictures today, some of them are already available here, but the pictures on this site may be bigger. Most of them were new to me.
