I'll be posting one or so every so often of these proposed designs for the new Twins Stadium that was presented to the Minnesota Legislature today.

Very Nice! Reminds me of Safeco.

That's cool that you can't really see the roof when it is retracted from behing home plate. That's one of the really annoying things about Safeco, the roof is really noticlable from behing home, and even more so from the 3B side.

Seen here:

The roof also seems to be somewhat opaque on the Twins design, which I think will be bad news (think of the astrodome and the issues they had with seeing the ball).

The situation with the roof at Safeco is an eyesore though.

I like the roof being back behind most of the fans too. Creates a shade for some of them. Nice! It would be good to see how the stadium relates to the neighborhood/city and the location of North. Any dead down or God view drawings?

I don't know if the Twins intended to make people salivate over the prospect of this style of park, at an opportune time, but they may have done the job. Earlier, I posted at the Portland Twins forum a few articles that pointed out how difficult the process is going to be once again.

From looking at the pictures the MLB site provided, I think that the park would look best at the Minneapolis site that was talked about for some time, which would put it right near Target Center.

Thats exactly what i thought the first time i seen it. I also can see some Camden Yards and Pac Bell Park in it.

Another thing, why do u all think that the roof on Safeco is an eye sore. I think with out the roof right there the stadium would not look nearly as nice unless the Seattle skyline would of been in center. I think that position of the roof makes Safeco Safeco, if you know what i mean.

Here's what I'm talking about in regards to the roof appearing to be opaque. Seems to have transparent pieces.

Wow, I have 2 things to say about this picture.
1. Wouldn't all that glass cause some bad glares because it looks like above the outfield seats that the wall part of the roof on the tracks is all glass too.

and 2. Are those Suites or Pressboxes above the upperdeck behind homeplate. I have never seen that placement before.

Here's my best guess on what the levels in the park are:

  • Box seats and field level seating for about 10 rows on the baselines. They don't go all the way around the lower level, but close.

  • 100-level seats fill up to the lower level concourse, which is opened up to see the field all the way around.

  • Club level seating is above the concourse it appears.

  • Suite level is above that.

  • 300 level is pretty substantial.

  • And then, I think you're right Jon, it looks like the press box is all the way at the top.

Loads of glass. I'm trying to make out what the louvers are all about in the outfield section of the structure when the roof is closed. Wondering if it's solid or open ala Safeco.
