From John Hunt's column today:
quote:
Site selection: Portland planning director Gil Kelley said there has been no movement on site selection for the major league stadium, as that process awaits completion of the stadium finance plan.

"We're sort of standing at ease until they give us the orders," Kelley said.

Kelley said the idea of using PGE Park as both a temporary and permanent home is very much on the table. Could last week's failed sale of the Beavers and Timbers lead to a greater desire to make that site pay off?

"It could," Kelley said. "I think we were beginning to take a look at that site, anyway, a little more seriously."

Cincinnati and St. Louis are examples of stadiums planned and built around existing facilities.

John Vosmek of the Portland Baseball Group said PGE Park poses logistical challenges, as do the other six proposed sites, but not insurmountable ones.

"My job is to look at any fatal flaw and bring it back to life," Vosmek said.

There is no way in **** that the Kings Height/Goose Hollow neighbiorhoods will allow that to be a permanent answer for a stadium.

That, my friend, is one of those things in your site matrix that gets some extra weight to it.

There may, indeed, be issues that you mention.
