Star Tribune - May 7, 2007
Street closings first sign of new Twins ballpark The first tangible sign that construction on a new Minnesota Twins ballpark is underway comes as the Metropolitan Council Environmental Services shuts down two blocks of N. 5th Street to complete a sewer lining project and rebuilding of a railroad bridge. Star Tribune Last update: May 07, 2007 – 9:00 AM The first tangible sign that construction on a new Minnesota Twins ballpark is underway comes as the Metropolitan Council Environmental Services shuts down two blocks of N. 5th Street to complete a sewer lining project and rebuilding of a railroad bridge. The street will be closed between 3rd and 5th Avenues North starting today through Nov. 1. Work on the project began more than two months ago, but the road has been open with lane restrictions. Elsewhere in Minneapolis, the ramp from eastbound Interstate Hwy. 94 to westbound I-394 and access to Hennepin and Lyndale Avenues is closed until May 14 to allow the Minnesota Department of Transportation to complete a bridge painting project. Also Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis is closed for repaving. Metro Transit buses are being rerouted via Hennepin Avenue. Light rail service along 5th Street will be suspended from 1:30 to 3:30 a.m. Tuesday to allow for skyway window replacement, Metro Transit said. Buses will be used to transport riders in the affected area. TIM HARLOW _____________________________________ Go where you are wanted! |
