Rockstar, the Amtrak folk and the Senators and US Reps of Oregon and Washington have been looking at the Vancouver to Eugene rail corridors as one of the five national corridors to see high speed rail service. This was done back in the 1990s ( Chronology of High-Speed Rail Corridors ). "Sounders" come to Portland and Oregon all the time. Our beaches are nicer and they can buy certain items without paying an extra tax. If you could combine a vacation with a shopping spree, wouldn't you be game? As for "hoping" the price of gasoline drops, I'm not going to hold my breath since the oil companies are seeing the largest quarterly profits of all-time. Why would they change the current macro-economic reality? Chaos and uncertainty makes all precious commodities worth and cost more. BB Again, Happy Easter and Blessings to you all! |

I am aware of this study and again it will not happen for a very long time; to many jurisdictions, parties, and everything else. We will have MLB in PDX before this ever happens. Eugene is not a viable end to the line and that 100 miles of track would be wasted money. PDX to Seattle someday, but thats it.
