Why would Oakland give the Sox a chance to take away the main reason they are as good as they are...Oakland is truly run by cheap morons..\
Red Sox say there's no truth to Baker reports ESPN.com news services If Red Sox fans are clinging to the hope that Dusty Baker could come to Beantown, those aspirations seemed to be dashed Saturday. Responding to reports that the former Giants manager might head to Boston to free up current manager Grady Little for the Mariners' opening, the Boston Globe reported that the Red Sox are for now sticking with Little. "As far as I know, there's no truth to it whatsoever,'' said Red Sox assistant general manager Theo Epstein. ''We have a manager we like who won 93 games last year and is under contract for next year.'' After Seattle officially pulled out of the Baker hunt, Mariners GM Pat Gillick stirred the rumor mill be saying a mystery team was interested in Baker, a team whose manager Seattle would pursue if he was available. Various newspapers suggested that team was the Red Sox, but Gillick told the Globe that ''there's no validity to that, at least to my knowledge.'' Little worked for Gillick when he managed Toronto's Single A team in 1985 when Gillick was GM of the Blue Jays. The Red Sox are also looking for a general manager, and the New York Times reported Saturday that the Athletics have given Boston permission to speak with general manager Billy Beane. Citing a baseball source, the Times reported that the two sides might have already spoken. "Whether anything comes of it, no one knows," the official told The Times. The Red Sox have sought permission for some time, but Oakland officials had ignored the team's request. Larry Lucchino, the Red Sox chief executive, told the paper: "We have no comment on the matter. Too much has been said in the newspapers about this matter." But it has been no secret that Beane is at the top of Lucchino's wish list. The Red Sox have interviewed seven candidates for their general manager's job, and their interim general manager, Mike Port, is also a candidate. The other interviewed candidates is Jim Duquette, the Mets' senior assistant general manager. ----------------------------- Anaheim Angels 2002 WORLD CHAMPIONS!! Back in the Saddle again! Getting Beane is almost a playoff guarantee. He and Sabean are the best GMs out there. Why the heck would Oakland do that? He's FAR more valuable than any single player they could get in return or sign with the money they'd save by cutting him lose.

Which is to move. Purposely tank, so you can have a somewhat legit excuse to move.
Numbers don't lie. People do. Beware of the Silver & Black attack |
