Wait 'til next year on San Jose-A's vote
Silicon Valley / San Jose Business Journal

San Jose Mayor Chuck Reed said there won't be a vote this year on moving the Oakland A's to the city.

After ongoing conversations with Lew Wolff, co-owner of the A's, Reed said the A's co-owner wants the territorial rights issue resolved before he moves ahead with the ballot measure. Giants own MLB's territorial rights to the city.

“Right now we are looking at November 2010, “ Reed said.

But he expressed optimist about the A's coming to town.

“I really think it can happen,” he said.

Reed also said the city plans to talk to PG&E about an electrical substation on the site where a stadium would be likely to go, next to Diridon Station.

Reed said he believes the substation won't have to be completely relocated to accommodate a new stadium.
