OK Here's the start of the A's Relocation forum. Please try to keep the thread focused on this team and this subject. Thanks, TeddyBGR...
05/02/01 - Notes from the BayInsider.com - (Looks like we're not the only ones that are looking at Portland as possibly getting the A's - TeddyBGR) A's Fans- Read This by apd5052 People, people. I would like to start off by saying that I'am in no way an A's fan. I'am from San Francisco, but look. I don't want to see you guys loose your team. You must start to show up at home games at the Net and make sure that the owners don't move the team to a crappy city like Las Vegas, Portland or Sacramento. We have a great history in the Bay Area and "we" must keep it like this. You guys have won World Series' and have a place in MLB History. It shouldn't end here. The new stadium in downtown Oakland must be Jerry Browns main priority. Tell him this. The A's represent Oakland in a great way and bring money to the city. I promise to show up to as many games as possible but you must help me out. Especially the games on June 8th, 9th, and 10th against my beloved Giants. So do your team a favor and go to the games. The attendance is really bad. Reply from "who cares" by grumpygrandpa No one cares about the A's except people who live in suburban places like Sacramento. The A's suck. They have the ugliest uniforms in professional sports. And the players all have mullets and don't belong in the Bay Area. Reply "To: apd5052 by rocketarm" I no longer live in the Bay Area, but where was Mayor Brown intending to put the park. He would have to tear out a lot of buildings/businesses. It's ok where it's at, the fans just need to show up. I went to a few games, even during the "Billy Ball" era. I think the Bay Area is becoming less sports orientated due to so many bad years for their sports teams, although finally coming around. ++++++++++++++++++++ Show me a guy who can't pitch inside and I'll show you a loser. - Sandy Koufax [This message was edited by TeddyBallgameRules on MAY-02-01 at 07:59 AM.] |

Last night's attendance at Oakland was 14,048. Not bad, until you realize that Wed. nights at the Coliseum are $1 Nights, upper deck tix just one buck! And, as my son usually does, everyone who paid for the cheap ducats just moves down to the lower deck, where there are plenty of empty seats!
The folks on BayInsider.com sure have a high opinion of my former home, Sacramento. Sac, by the way, is not in the running for MLB. I emailed a Bee columnist about it, and he said that Sac is still too much of a government town, and just doesn't have the corporate presence that is needed to support MLB. Vegas - no way. MLB and gambling just aren't good bedfellows. |
