OAKLAND, Calif. -- The Oakland Athletics extended their lease at the Coliseum through 2007 on Tuesday.

The A's will pay $500,000 per year in the first three years of the new agreement. The deal, expected to be approved by city officials within the next two weeks, also contains three one-year club options through 2010.

A's owner Steve Schott said the team still plans to build a baseball-only stadium as soon as possible, but there is still plenty of work to do.

"This is the best way I could express my commitment to our fans," Schott said.

They might be the only team at the Coliseum by the time the lease expires.

If Bowser from Sha Na-Na (Al Davis) gets a chance to pull his Raiders out he's gonna do it,I agree Mavs by the time the A's lease is up the Raiders will be in either LA,Irwindale,or O.C. whoever give him the most Quan to quote the great Rod Tidwell. Show me the Money!!

Portland, if you want a football team - build a stadium and give Mr. Davis a great deal and then you have pro football. But you got to have a great lawyer team with Davis.

But for the rest of you who want a baseball team, how about bringing both of Oakland's teams up to the Rose City!
