Thanks New Yorker for the images and links. My wife now will be spending my up coming birthday money at one of these sites. Much to my delight! For anyone that wants to see the original logo (elephant), and blue colors on the uniforms for the A's to get a better idea of what the team colors were before Finley bought the team go to the following link. Great stuff for baseball history freaks like myself as well....

You're welcome, Teddy.

I have absolutely no explination for this one, though:

Yikes. I can understand supporting the troops, especially in a town like SD with its military presence, but- Yikes.

I understand that was a one-game only gig as I saw the players giving the jerseys away to Armed Forces personnel in attendance at that game.

Kind of an "Armed Forces Day" special event.

This reminds me of the "Future" uniforms that were so hideous a couple years back. Some body with far too much bad fashion sense tried to make uniforms that were "futuristic looking" bad ugly. Had the team logo in massive proportions....

Back to the A's....

Is attendance still at the 13,000 mark for them? I would think with them coming out of the gate in such bad shape in the standings that the attendance would drop.

Yeah, this is the second (apparently Annual) Armed Forces Day. It's still a hideous jersey. Should have done a naval theme: would have worked better with their color scheme.

I liked the future jerseys for one reason only- The Return of the Beer Barrel Man (long time Milwaukee fans will know what I'm talking about here). wink

I have heard that the A's attendance is not so hot, but will see if I can track down the numbers. Details to come....

It's ridiculously early, but how great is it to see the A's at 2-10?! Wahoo! Here's hoping they go 2-160, drawing a total of 759 fans the rest of the season, and then move to PDX, where their still-young team truly blossoms, capturing the World Series!...no offense to the A's players, who'll probably rebound to capture the AL West flag, but for our MLB in PDX purposes, the more they lose, well, it doesn't hurt our chances to nab 'em. wink

A MLB team will be ours--oh yes-- it will be ours

Has anyone contemplated what would happen to Jason Giambi if the move to Portland were made? Sounds to me like the A's are trying to figure a way to keep in the fold during these money problems.

Didn't G-man just sign an extension or new contract that locks him up to the A's for a few years yet? If that's the case, he may be a Portlander yet!
