Flag poles installed at ballpark site
Fans can now see infield layout

Miami, FL - The Florida Marlins today installed flag poles on the site of the new Miami ballpark depicting the exact location of home plate and the bases. The announcement was made by Marlins' Sr. Vice President of Stadium Development, Claude Delorme.

At home plate will be the flags of Miami-Dade County, City of Miami and the Florida Marlins. First base will be marked with the flag of lead-architect, Populous. At second base will be the flag of the United States of America and at third will be the flag of the project's construction manager, Hunt/ Moss, a joint venture. The flags will also be illuminated at night and home plate, the bases and base lines are painted to form a baseball diamond.

"As we approach our official groundbreaking in the coming months, people will now start to notice more activity on the site," said Delorme. "Installing these flags gives everyone a better sense of the playing field and the beautiful views fans will have of downtown Miami from their seats."

The new ballpark's footprint will have a south-east orientation, with unobstructed views of Miami's famed skyline made possible by six operable glass panels. The ballpark will be located on the parcel of land bordered by NW 6th Street to the north, NW 4th Street to the south, NW 16th Avenue to the west and NW 14th Avenue to the east.

Hunt/ Moss, a joint venture selected as the Construction Manager for the project, will work with Populous (formerly HOK), the world leaders of baseball stadium design, on the state-of-the-art facility in Miami's Little Havana. The joint venture consists of Hunt Construction Group, the nation's leading sports builder and Moss and Associates, a South Florida based firm with extensive experience in the Miami/Dade County area.

With a capacity of approximately 37,000 seats, the retractable roof, air-conditioned ballpark will be built on 928,000 square feet on the former Orange Bowl site. The ballpark will celebrate Opening Day in April 2012 and will attract a wide variety of events throughout the entire calendar year. For more information, please visit www.marlins.com.
