I like the logo a lot... very creative how the trees blend into the background.

I don't like the nickname, though... it sounds AFL-ish.

I figured out how to get the new mayor to swing over to our side of Baseball in Portland. I propose that we name the team the Portland Otters. or P-Otters for short. Starwars

Whats with all the weird animal names?? I dont think the Beavers should be a name. We already have the OSU Beavers. Here are some in my opinion that should be considered.

Portland Originals
Portland Pioneers
Portland Pumas
Portland Expos
Portland Rail Roaders(Portland Roaders)

Marlins to Portland

I thought about the Portland Brown Sox, as it would be nice to see a Brown colored MLB team jersey, (aside from vintage SD Padres), but I also wouldn't mind the Portland Green Sox either. I DON'T want to see any green clover leaves on the jersey or as the logo, though, it wouldn't make sense.

I would like to see either Brown or Green pinstripes, though, to go with the wording.

I'm thinking that the Fish will want to stay, just that Fish, the question is what fish would it be?

Obvious choices to me sound pretty cheesy, and miner league, Chinook, Coho. Names I think mught be a little more MLB ready...

Portland Sockeyes
Portland Silvers
Portland Redsides (Deschutes Trout)

Anymore ideas?

A personal favorite of mine as far as team names go is Barons. I don't know, it just sounds cool. Simple, not too long and it would go well with a black/red color scheme (if we want to start something like that the way Pittsburgh has). I like the name Pioneers and Explorers, but they just seem too similar to Trailblazers. Also, I say we avoid the local animal name - seems like that's run a bit thin.

i saw we need to celebrate our world-renowned beer and pay homage to it by giving it a name after a beer. i like the herons, as suggested earlier. but what about the blue herons???

What about the Portland Rivercats? It takes the name of a AAA team but it fits. The river is right there. It doesnt have to be Rivercats but maybe something with River in it.
i was also thinking
Portland Porters
Portland Timber
Maybe something with mt Hood
every website i have been on about portland has mt hood in it.
give suggestions

Mt. Hood is a wonderful place and a beautiful landmark, but "Portland Hoods" won't work - everyone will think we renamed the Trailblazers!

(OK, OK, no more Blazer jokes from me - I just hope they get their act together and stay. Losing a pro sports franchise, especially one of the "Big 4", is NEVER a good thing for a city!)
