Baseball has somewhat of a history naming teams after birds (Cardinals, Orioles, Blue Jays, etc.)
The Western Meadowlark is the state bird of Oregon, I think it would be fitting to have the baseball team named after the state bird.

Welcome to the OSA, AM31! There's been a lot of discussion over the past few years about team names, colors, and logos, so check around some of the other threads here in the "Suggestions" section and get a feel for all the ideas that have been proposed. I'm a birding fan myself and I like "Meadowlarks", which could easily be shortened to "Larks" for the media headlines. And the Western meadowlark IS our state bird. I've proposed "Peregrines" before - we have some nesting on the Fremont Bridge downtown - but a lot of folks didn't know what that is.

I see you have incorporated the Peterson Field Guide meadowlark in your logo. Just curious if you grabbed the Eastern or the Western meadowlark; they are slightly different, but almost impossible to distinguish in the field.

Thought so. The Eastern tends to be a bit browner, and the yellow above the bill does not extend quite to the eye. As I said, hard to distinguish in the field where the ranges overlap (east of the Rockies). Voice is the best way to tell them apart.
