Hey there!
I thought this might be interesting... Who would you like to see interviewed for the site? Remember that we're trying to keep some type of ties to the MLB to Portland effort, but that doesn't mean it has to be all "Portland", just as long as baseball ties into the deal. Politicians, columnists, play-by-play announcers, players, managers, league officials, union officials, and authors or historians are all fair game in my mind. Remember, some aren't going to happen (I doubt that Bud Selig would do one given the fact that we're directly tied into the process right now and that could effect things), but hey... you never know. Thanks, Maury "PLAY BALL!" [This message was edited by Maury on December 23, 2003 at 03:30 PM.] |

How about Pete Ward? He played at Lewis & Clark, played for the White Sox and Orioles, runs the travel agency in town that gave us the bus for the trip to Seattle to see the Expos back in June. He was an AL Rookie of the Year (1963, I believe?).

Good suggestion Blair.
For the record, Pete was The Sporting News AL Rookie of the Year. "PLAY BALL!" |

What about Pesky? He was born in Portland, and was I think a clubhouse attendent for the Beavers. If his memory is anything like Doerr's he could have some cool stories....
Doerr might be able to help you get in contact with him, or the Red Sox could, he still holds some sort of position with the team, and has been at Spring Training with the Red Sox almost every year since he retired..... --Tim Chamberlin-- --OSC Volunteer Coordinator-- |

Naw...It's Rizz I hate....
"From the greatest ballpark in baseball".. Bah....Rizz needs to get off the Prozac and quit talking like fans are a bunch of 4 year olds he's reading a story to right before finger painting/naptime... Dave knows his stuff...Just needs to cut out the "Belted to RF!" only to be caught on the warning track... ---------------------------------------------- Seattle Seahawks vs Kansas City Chiefs Superbowl XXXVIII, Reliant Stadium Houston, Texas February 1, 2004 Santa, please bring the Hawks a Playoff Berth for Christmas! |

How about Richie Sexson? Or Randy Meyers? It is his first year on the HOF ballot. Another one that I would love to see would be Vin Scully. Boy, talk about someone I just love to hear talk. He could read the dictionary and I would listen for hours.

Sexson is someone I'd love to interview.
Dream interviews for me; of ones I think could be pulled off with some luck (in no particular order): "PLAY BALL!" |

I have a feeling Schilling would be willing to take the time to talk to you. He seems to truly love fans. As I mentioned somewhere he spend several hours chatting with Red Sox fans on Sons of Sam Horn site.
Theo would be VERY cool too. Can you tell I'm a Red Sox fan? --Tim Chamberlin-- --OSC Volunteer Coordinator-- |

Hey Tim, what about an interview with Nomar at this point? He seems more open to talking to the press nowadays.

Ooooo... That was brutal
On that note... Grady Little seems to have some spare time all of a sudden. Maybe we should interview him "PLAY BALL!" |

That would be the difficulty with Theo, he aparently works in the area of 70-80 hours per week.

I would think interviews would be part of his "work".
He's one of those "longshot" guys. I'd like to interview Berra, but what's the odds on that? "PLAY BALL!" |

What do you guys think about going outside of baseball for an interview? I know there are some NFL, NBA and NHL players from here that could offer their insights. Might be interesting to get what is considered an outsiders opinion.

Not really, Joe. There are soooo many baseball people out there that it'll be years before I could think about "outside" of baseball.

Joe Buck would be a good interview.

I would like to see Greg Brock interviewed. Some questions could be about where he grew up here in Oregon and played baseball, coaches that helped him along the way, and of course what it was like to have to replace Steve Garvey. Greg Brock was the reason that I was a LA Dodgers fan as a kid (we were from the same town).
